ABOUT

Ryan Kuhns received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of the Arts in 2010 and his Master of Music degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2012. Since then, he has been a regular performer on the New York/Philadelphia music scenes, and this has afforded him the opportunity to work with many greats, including Gregg Field, FutureMan, Freda Payne, Sally Struthers, Marilu Henner, David Liebman, Marcus Belgrave, Greg Osby, Joe Locke, John Blake Jr., Benjamin Zander, Tim Warfield, Joe Magnarelli, John Fedchock, Joel Frahm, John Swana, Nick Bockrath, Benjamin von Gutzeit, and Michael Orland.

Ryan’s discography includes Gillian Grassie's The Woodlands Sessions (which was featured on celebrity Zach Anner’s If at Birth You Don’t Succeed audiobook), the University of the Arts’ Like No One Else and Big Band (which got write-ups from JazzTimes magazine and allaboutjazz.com), and Ross Bellenoit's Driving North (which was performed/promoted on PhillyCAM TV).

Additionally, Ryan’s interest in diverse styles of music has given him many wide-ranging experiences, such as having performed at Carnegie Hall as principal bassist of the National Festival Orchestra; having performed a private jazz concert at Citizens Bank Park for the owners of the Philadelphia Phillies; and having opened for Charlie Daniels, Ruben Studdard, Jerrod Niemann, Joe Nichols, Josh Turner, David Nail, Uncle Kracker, Jamie Lynn Spears, and Josh Thompson with country artist Liv Devine.

As an educator, Ryan is currently on the music faculty at Lebanon Valley College, and before that, he was a Senior Lecturer for 6 years at the University of the Arts. Furthermore, he has been teaching private lessons at his home studio for over 15 years.
